FRED KARNO COMPANY 1910 CENTENARY CELEBRATIONS
September 2010 - LONDON
22nd September 1910, marks the day when England made the gift of the world's two greatest screen comedians to America, for it was on that very day that Messrs. Stanley Jefferson (later - Stan Laurel) and Charles Chaplin left these shores to play in American vaudeville.
Stan and Charlie were part of a troupe of Fred Karno Comedians. Along with them on the Atlantic crossing went: Alfred Reeves, Amy Minister, Albert Austin, Bert Williams, George Henry Seaman, Emily Seaman, Frank Melroyd, Fred Westcott (aka: Fred Karno Jnr.), Arthur Dandoe, Fred Palmer, Muriel Palmer, Mike Asher, and Charlie Griffiths, most of whom are pictured below.

To mark this historic centenary, I am organising a day at a very special Karno location in London. And I mean "VERY SPECIAL." Invited along will be the descendants of the 1910 Karno Company, with whom we shall be recreating the above photo, with them standing in for their relatives. I have already tracked down relatives of EIGHT of the above (the ones underlined) and am hoping to track down more.
CAN YOU HELP?
Are you related to any of the above Karno members, or do you know someone who is? If so, please contact me ASAP. You can email me at ajmarriot@aol.com - or write to:
"A.J" Marriot, 20 Oughton Close, Hitchin. Herts. SG5 2QY (NO visitors.)
Please give details of the Karno member you are writing about.
Wouldn't it be just great if we could get representatives of all fifteen Karno Comedians!
